What You'll Get

The Mindful Researcher course uses weekly topics to guide you step-by-step towards a deeper and more engaged understanding of how mindfulness can contribute to success and well-being during your doctoral journey.

  • Weekly 90-minute live Zoom classes will introduce and explore key mindfulness tools and give you the time and space to reflect on mindfulness with other PhD students.
  • A weekly recorded 30-minute knowledge lecture will introduce you to the theory and practical principles we will explore during the live course.
  • The detailed PDF manual provides informative, science-backed reading each week to contextualise the practical exercises and move toward a deeper understanding.
  • The weekly recorded audio meditations provide the focus for your regular meditation practise at home and help you integrate the practical and applied learning.

The content explores mindfulness in the broader context of contemplative studies, drawing upon mindfulness based stressed reduction, cognitive behavioural therapy, yoga philosophy, and psychosynthesis.

The course is ideal for you if you are curious about mindfulness and would like to learn the basics, or if you already have an existing contemplative practise (e.g., meditation, yoga, tai chi, etc.) and would like to expand and deepen your practise in the context of your doctoral research. All experience levels are welcome!

This 8-week course is a combination of live 90-minute weekly Zoom classes, recorded knowledge lectures, and resources and recordings to help you develop your understanding of mindfulness.

Mindfulness is not for everyone and may not be supportive for people with severe trauma, schizophrenia or psychosis, epilepsy, or severe asthma. All participants are asked to complete a confidential intake form to ensure that mindfulness is safe and suitable for them. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Learning Materials

In the recorded knowledge lectures and PDF guide we will dive into the theory, history, and research on mindfulness to give you a solid grounding in the scientific literature

Building New Habits

We will explore mindfulness not as a discrete tool, but as a way of being that can impact upon our bodies, emotions, and minds.

Community

You will join a group of like-minded PhD researchers who are following a similar path to yours, and you will be able to share and discuss in a welcoming and supportive group.
